Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for information.
An important political figure stated the incident left him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
