It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

In the end, the result of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to create her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her bow and seven international trophies have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it's been a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing completely," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from there Healy was on her way.

"A chance to play and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was out her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the belief to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

These statements will be the last competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

During the last week a feeling they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this success following win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as leader.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
